Martina - these are fantastic. What are they? I don't think I have ever seen them before. They look like so kind of flowering fern.

I think it is some kind of Cirsium but I am not sure. Really abundant around here.

hmmmm - well i certainly like them. Cirsium, according to wikipedia, is a type of thistle. They are not like anything I've seen. I like how you're able to photograph them with the sky as a background. It makes it look as if they are 10 feet tall.
