Selfies.

These are great selfies. Great self-portraits. And pretty damn cool photographs as well. One of the (many) things I like, looking at them, is the sense of distorted space - the fisheye POV of the mirrored reflections - versus the seemingly ordinary squared-off perspective/s of the world around them - makes the selfies....more mysterious....more challenging.....than 'ordinary' selfies, ones which just show the person, and the place they are in or at. But here, in your photos, the 'person' - you - is.....fluid. Not easy to pin down, or define. This person might be x...or she might be y....or she might be z. Or all three. Or none of the above.

It makes me think of a line in a poem by Anne Sexton - "I am a collection of dismantled almosts." I think I feel that way myself sometimes. I might be this...or I might be that. Or I might almost be something else. Or almost not.

I'll have to look at them again....to see how they change....the next time.

Thank you! You should write my artist's statements ;-) - you always find the words for what I want to express without words.
You're welcome.

I just looked at them again, months later.....they stand up nicely to repeated viewings, always the mark of good art - you want to come back, see it again.....maybe through different eyes, the next time :-)
